Bloggers Anonymous
Good Saturday morning all! After much ado, I have decided to post my first blog message EVER...Yes, I am somehow joining the millions who blog everyday and who hope to add something to the daily discourse on a variety of subjects.
I was somewhat hesitant when I was invited to join this blog - for a few reasons. It was the same sort of hesitation I felt when I got my first cell phone in the late '90s....do I really need this? Is this technology really useful to the average person? For the first several weeks that I had a cell phone, I didn't even want to use it in public or have it ring within anyone else's earshot. People who would try to call me would ask if I ever kept the damn thing on to get a call. Usually not. I saw it as a device to assist me when I wanted to call out. So, in some ways this morning, I am approaching my first blog post in the same way. When I need to call out, I will post.
However, my attitude has changed quite a bit in terms of the cell phone. I see it differently and now, frankly, rarely leave the house without it. In my mind, it is not for just calling out, but a way for others to reach me. This matters, if the people who are calling me matter, as they often do. I don't give out my number to many people. Anyway, I imagine over time, I will adjust to being a blogger much the same way I adjusted to being a cell phone user. I will not only see it as a way of getting my message out, if need be, but rather a way to receive and exchange information with a variety of people no matter where I am. This sounds good to me. More importantly, it sounds worthwhile given the blog's purpose and mission of free thinking about free markets. Excellent topics!
So I guess I am now officially part of this "new technology" and hope to be able to do my part. Now if only I could replace all of my cassette music....
