Santorum on Bush: "He's Too Texas"
An interesting admission from the junior senator from Pennsylvania last night on MSNBC's Hardball, while pitching his new book It Takes a Family: Bush failed to carry his state in 2004 because he was "too Texas," and a 2008 GOP nominee who is a little more in the "mainstream" will have a good shot a carrying the state.
Sounds like a Senator who's in the fight of his life, as well as one who views President Bush as a liability to his continued political viability. Recall that just last year, Arlen Specter openly embraced President Bush and got his endorsement during a hotly contested primary with current Club for Growth President Pat Toomey -- only take down any pro-Bush imagery the day after his narrow victory.
Presidents may come and go, but Senatorial posturing never, ever dies.
