"Should Prisoners Have More Rights Than Non-Prisoners?"

Here's the kind of shit that infuriates simpletons like Bill O'Reilly: special treatment for inmates. Unfortunately, this particular example also infuriates me, as placed through the lens of of Bill Piper of the Drug Policy Alliance at DPA's blog The D'Alliance (with which I have more than a passing interest).

The question at hand, as framed by Piper -- and here my friend is more eloquent in the comments section than he is in the blog itself -- is whether your garden variety prison resident should have more rights to smoke a cigarette in the presence of others than, say, someone voluntarily sitting in a government-mandated "smokefree" establishment like, say, a bar.

This question is smoke in the eye for certain nanny-staters, and one they'd undoubtedly prefer not to consider. But Piper's is a fantastic framing of an issue that cuts to the heart of commercial and individual liberty.
