Something to Suck on II

Over at Reason’s Hit & Run, Kerry Howley pokes fun at a recent column in Glamour magazine by a conservative writer who argues women shouldn’t be allowed to breastfeed their babies in public. I know what you’re thinking, Kerry Howley reads Glamour??? Well, so what. Our very own Davey Allday reads People and Star magazine. I’ve been known to read Jane, as well as Reason.

Gossip aside, this issue of public breastfeeding has become a heated issue lately; especially in Maryland where Starbucks ran afoul of a state law last year that guarantees women the right to breastfeed their babies anywhere they want (look for a new breastmilk-infused double latte coming soon).

My personal take on the subject: if babies can suck on breasts in public why can’t I?

(For readers who were hoping for a more high-brow discussion of what constitutes the proper breastfeeding policy, sorry that’s not my job. Maybe Nikos or the possibly breast-obsessed Liberal Weenie can help you out).
