The Hammer is Such a Tool

House Majority Leader Tom "The Hammer" Delay has an editorial in today's Washington Times that begins with the following ridiculous statement, "Having compiled a long record as a conscientious fiscal conservative in the House of Representatives..." He goes on to criticize the federal government for not having "a more perfect sense of bureaucratic reform." More perfect sense of bureaucratic reform???? With lack of vision like this, it's no wonder the Republican Party is rudderless. In 659 words he can't name one good thing the Republican Congress has done. The closest he comes is to suggest that Republicans saved taxpayers $89 billion by only spending $286 billion on the pork-laden highway bill instead of $375 billion. Why not just say that Republicans saved taxpayers a trillion dollars since they could have spent $1.3 trillion? I guess the Republicans already have their 2006 campaign theme, "Vote for us, we could have been worse."
