Jet Blue/LAX

I'm flipping between CNN, Fox and MSNBC, watching Jet Blue flight 292, which is burning off fuel before it attempts an emergency landing at LAX, and wondering if the passengers on the plane are also watching the drama they're very much a part of unfold on their in-seat TV monitors.

I'm not sure if I'd watch it or not if I was on the plane -- or even if Jet Blue hasn't taken some steps to turn off the monitors -- but I like the idea that, if the televisions are turned on, the people on board know exactly what the people on the ground know. And I bet they can take some comfort in that. Naturally, I hope the plane lands just fine and we forget about this story by week's end.

Update: The plane has landed safely. Great job by the pilots. MSNBC reports that a passenger sent a message from their Blackberry to the network indicating that the TV monitors had been shut off by the crew for at least an hour.

Update II: As commenter flyer notes, the passengers were indeed watching their plight on TV. This represents the last time I'll rely on MSNBC's Allison Stewart for any facts. Well, the last time until she returns to MTV News, at least.
