Oh No! Don’t Roil London’s Fashion Week!

For those of you looking for some diversion from the onslaught of natural disasters, plane crashes, and mixed news about what’s next for the Supreme Court, how about that Kate Moss?

You know, I am not sure what I am more surprised about regarding the latest photos and allegations of her drug use…the fact that others seemed so shocked at the fact that Kate might be snorting white powder in the first place or that this is the first time I’ve seen pictures of it. I mean, is this really coming out of left field for people? Had it been discovered that the ever-so-wholesome Reese Witherspoon or boring-as-hell brothers from that vapid musical group Hanson, were doing lines then maybe I could understand the shock. But Kate Moss? I am not surprised. More importantly, I am not outraged about it. I am disappointed that these companies who were doing business with her are being so hard-line and hypocritical about the whole thing. Yes, it is their right to be that way – especially if there was some clause in her contracts about being “drug-free” or something. But I think if she can go out and bring home the bacon and still look good after she snorts all of the bits up her nose, then hey, more power to her. This opinion piece in the UK’s Times Online seems to provide some comic relief about it all, while also highlighting that this could easily be seen as an invasion of her privacy - I mean she is not expected to be a celebrity 24/7, is she?

Keep in mind, that this is the same model that has spent private time with Johnny Depp (lucky girl!) and who has been recently romantically-linked with the poor, troubled soul, Pete Doherty - the ex-frontman for the kick-ass band The Libertines, now with the band Babyshambles. This woman seems to be able to hold her own with the bad boys and still look fashionable. This seems to be perfectly in line with what being a supermodel is supposed to be, doesn’t it?

I wish she hadn’t apologized about being caught, but I guess the threat of losing pounds (money, not weight) was enough to sober her up for the moment. She may have even actually dumped Pete after all of this. Luckily for her though, she has the support of many famous friends. Even Scientologists are reaching out to save her from herself.

Hang on, Kate! You are not alone. The fashion world is rooting for you...
