Bush Going Down with Ship

President Bush's approval rating now stands at 37%, according to a poll released last night by CBS News. Against this backdrop the president today offered a tepid statement of support for Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers:

Asked he if would (sic) rule out ever seeing Miers' name withdrawn, Bush did not answer directly (sic) substituting instead words of confidence about her confirmation process. "She is going to be on the bench," he said. "She's going to be confirmed."
