Bush Picks Miers for TSC
President Bush has nominated confidante, fellow Texan and virtual unknown Harriet Miers to replace outgoing Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. She's had a varied career, doing everything from heading a law firm to chairing Texas's state lottery commission and serving a term as a city councilor in Dallas. She's now head White House counsel, having replaced cock-blocking AG Alberto Gonzales. One thing she's never been (like many others, including late Chief Justice Rehnquist) is a judge.
According to this year-old White House Q&A Miers is in favor of No Child Left Behind and daylight-savings time. White House bio here.
