DC Spends Dirty 'Tobacco Settlement' Money on...?
According to today's DC Examiner anti-smoking groups -- at least some of which receive public funding and all of which (please correct me if I'm wrong) favor the dreaded Smokefree DC* campaign -- are snipping at the hand that feeds them. In the one notable ray of sunshine in an otherwise de rigeur public-health article, the Examiner reports the groups are slamming the DC government for having "spent none of the $57.5 million it received this year from tobacco settlement revenue and tobacco taxes on anti-smoking efforts for children."
I have no reason to believe anything uttered by these lying groups (the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and American Lung Association), but I celebrate this infighting amongst idiots.
If they are telling the truth, then where'd the dozens of millions from one of the most -- if not the most -- egregious lawsuits in American history go? Who knows. Probably into building our now $600-million baseball stadium or for police overtime.
Whole thing here.
*So sue me.
