No Smokers Allowed!

At least not if you're looking for a job at the World Health Organization, which has announced that it has stopped hiring smokers! Current smokers are grandfathered in, and designated smoking areas will still be allowed to operate -- for now.

Money quote from the WHO spokesperson:
"WHO tries to encourage people to try and lead a healthy life. There is safe sex, one can drink alcohol in a reasonable way and one can attempt eating in a balanced fashion. But with tobacco, there is no middle ground, it is black and white and it kills half of those consuming it."
Wow, where have we heard this type of irresponsible rhetoric before?

I guess pre-employment screening is in order to find out if applicants are "tobacco-free."

No word as to the organization's next banned substance...
