Wasn't Me
I don't know if any of our readers have been following defense attorney Norm Pattis's posts over at Crime & Federalism; but, you should be. He is representing a man accused of kidnapping, gang-raping, beating and killing a woman. His on-going posts on the case are an interesting look into the conscience of a defense attorney (although I didn't realize attorneys could blog about on-going cases). His client was convicted today. Latest post on the case here. Worth a read.
In related news, his client could have benefited from The Alibi Network, a web site that helps people cover their tracks when they need an alibi. The company will provide customized alibis for everything from calling in sick to work to carrying on an affair. A small annual fee provides for fake e-mail confirmations, a fake hotel reception desk to answer incoming calls and even doctored photographs.
I'm reminded of Eddie Murphy's 1987 movie, Raw, in which he explains how the two words "wasn't me" can get you out of any accusations of cheating on your wife or bad-mouthing Mr. T.
UPDATE: Broken link fixed. Thanks, Leonardo.
