What's Wrong With Being On The Take?
Over at War and Piece, Laura Rozan has a post on recent reports that Doug Bandow (Cato Institute) and Peter Ferrara (Institute for Policy Innovation) were paid by indicted Washington Lobbyist Jack Abramoff to write op-eds supporting issues his clients supported. In fact, Doug Bandow reportedly accepted money from Abramoff for writing as many as 24 op-ed articles favorable to the positions of some of Abramoff's clients. Bandow has resigned his senior fellow position with the Cato Institute.
As someone who has been in DC for more than a decade, I can say this kind of thing happens all the time. More over, I don't see anything wrong with it. If someone wants to pay someone to write on something, who cares?
