Chris Penn, RIP

Actor Chris Penn -- brother of actor Sean and singer Michael -- was found dead in his bed yesterday. Penn is best known for playing Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs.

Police have said they do not suspect foul play, and the family has asked that their privacy be respected. Taken together, an apparent lack of foul play and a family's publicly expressed wish for privacy usually adds up to suicide, though no such cause of death has so far been stated.

If it is suicide, Penn's death is steeped in bitter irony in that today is the day his new movie The Darwin Awards plays Sundance.
