The Illinois Department of Transportation put up signs along a soon-to-be reconstructed highway to advise motorists of a number to call to hear about alternate routes. Instead motorists were directed to a phone sex hotline.

Callers heard "Hey there, sexy guy. Welcome to an exciting new way to go live, one on one, with hot, horny girls waiting right now to talk to you."

"We apologize to anyone who may have called that number and did not get the information that they were looking for," said an IDOT spokesman.
