The War on Drinking
As we've said in the past, the same coalition of moralizers, busy-bodies and public health fascists that brought us the war on smoking is brewing up a war on drinking. It won't be long before drinking in a bar is a crime just like smoking in a bar.
The false belief that private property (i.e. bars) is actually "public" is what got us into the smoking ban mess. Now, its creating a drinking mess. People who are drunk in bars are not drunk in public. They're drunk in private.

TABC agents and Irving police swept through 36 Irving bars and arrested about 30 people on charges of public intoxication. Agency representatives say the move came as a proactive measure to curtail drunken driving.Similar arrests happen last year in Virginia, where police arrested peaceful bar patrons for being intoxicated.
