Smash the War State

I dropped out of the anti-war movement years ago. Not because I stopped believing war was immoral, but because I thought the movement was dead. Single-handily killed by A.N.S.W.E.R. and other leftist groups who excluded libertarians and conservatives and made it clear they really were not interested in building the kind of broad-based anti-war movement that could bring down the War Machine once and for all.

So, imagine my surprise when I learned of the Antiwar League, which seeks to "unite ordinary Americans of different political persuasions behind a concrete program consciously designed to dissolve the empire and isolate and defeat the War Party." In opposition to the Pentagon's theory of "Full Spectrum Dominance" they propose "Full Spectrum Antiwar".

What do we mean by this? Briefly, the Antiwar League is full spectrum in that we welcome principled antiwar fighters from all points of view, not just from the left or progressive viewpoint. We do not introduce extraneous issues that might prevent people from getting involved. We are all antiwar all the time.

In addition we are full spectrum in another sense. We oppose not just the Iraq War but the whole Orwellian "War on Terror" and the entire "war system"which has brought forth this madness and our platform reflects this outlook.

Read a good article on a united left/right anti-war states' rights agenda here. (Hint: give up federal funding, kick recruiters out of schools, and exercise the power of states to bring National Guard troops home from Iraq today.)

Read a good article on CounterPunch on why leftists, libertarians, and anti-war conservatives should unite here.
