$100 Reward

Today I became a victim of the new federal law that treats anyone who buys certain cold or allergy medicine as a criminal. Not only did I have to give CVS my name, address, and ID to buy Sudafed Sinus & Allergy tablets, I had to wait approximately three minutes for them to record the information (as did the people behind me in line). I can easily see a 5-minute lunchtime run to the store turning into 15-minutes if several people with colds or allergies are in line. Free societies don't make people give their name and address to big business and big government before they can buy cold and allergy medicine. This law should be Exhibit A in showing the arrogance of members of Congress. Which gets me to the purpose of this post.

I'm willing to give $100 to the first person who can provide me with original evidence that proves (to my satisfaction) that one of the original co-sponsors of this law is using his or her staff to buy cold medicine for them. We all know that members of Congress won't have to deal with the hassles caused by this law because they will send their staff - at taxpayer expense - to buy cold medicine at the store. But, I want proof. I don't need pictures of a staff person buying something or an audio tape of a member of Congress telling a staffer to go buy it (although that would be GREAT). A convincing story by someone who works or used to work in their office that can be verified with a second source should be enough. (I can cite people anonymously if need be).

Here is a list of the arrogant members of Congress (all original co-sponsors of the Combat Meth Act):

Senators: Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA); Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO); Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA); Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA); Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN); Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE); Senator Chuch Hagel (R-NE); Senator Mark Dayton (D-MN); Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN); Senator Jim Talent (R-MO); Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR); Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR)

Representatives: Rep. Rick Renzi (R-1st/AZ); Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-2nd/CO); Rep. John Shimkus (R-19th/IL); Rep. Ron Lewis (R-2nd/KY); Rep. Roy Blunt (R-7th/MO); Rep. Todd Akin (R-2nd/MO); Rep. John Duncan (R-2nd/TN).
