True That

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage today by a party line vote of 10 to 8. The debate was apparently spirited with Senator Specter (R-PA), who wants to change federal law to allow President Bush to legally violate the 4th Amendment, and Senator Feingold (D-WI), who has essentially repealed the 1st Amendment with draconian campaign finance legislation, sparring over who is the bigger "protector" of the constitution.
After Leahy spoke, Feingold, an opponent of the amendment, said, “I don’t think this meeting is really a public meeting.” Feingold chastised Specter for leaving the markup to tend to the amendment process on the immigration bill. Then Feingold dramatically declared: “I cannot help you make a quorum” and turned to leave himself.

But before Feingold left, Specter angrily told him, “I do not need to be lectured by you.” Feingold tried to interject, but Specter wouldn’t let him. Specter said Feingold is “no more a protector of the Constitution than I.”
I couldn't agree more.
