Holy Sappho, Batman!

DC Comics is unveiling a new, lesbian Batgirl. One who "introduces herself to comic book readers by striking her ex-girlfriend right across the jaw," according to Out.com.

Though at least one "conservative voice" is aghast, that this wrinkle qualifies as news might come as a shock to anyone who's ever watched the (not so) ambiguously gay duo of Batman and Robin.

It's also not news outside of Gotham, where gay superheroes like the Rawhide Kid are plenty.
