Instead, Let's Just Cut Portions of Government-Funded Studies Like This One From 'Too Many' to 'None'
The aptly named Keystone Center has issued a 134-page, FDA-funded report attacking restaurant food. Though (based on a quick scan) the report does not call call for any "mandated, required, regulated, or demanded" government action, it does suggest actions that business is unlikely to take on its own.
Recommendation 2.1: Shift the emphasis of marketing. The marketing of lower-calorie and less-calorie-dense foods should increase, accompanied by a reduction in marketing that highlights higher-calorie (or calorie-dense) foods or encourages large portions. The fact that -- as noted here -- the nanny statists at CSPI support the report's findings, while the National Restaurant Association does not -- well, that and the government-funding angle -- tells me all I need to know about its biases and utility.
