Thy Neighbor's Thumb

There's a nice article in today's WaPo on the Glover Park Community Garden, where my girlfriend Roxanne and I have had an approximately 20x20 plot for three gardening seasons. I'm very happy that the article gives large and deserved accolades to our very good friend Dino Kraniotis, who heads the nonprofit that manages the garden.
[Kraniotis]is here virtually every day, including birthdays, not only to tend his own vegetables but also to make sure the larger garden of 157 plots is humming along. As chairman of the garden association, and a presence here for 20 years, he plays the roles of mayor, weed cop and garden mentor to the diverse group of fellow gardeners now in the midst of the growing season, pulling spring greens and watching the first yellow blossoms of the tomato plants appear with their promise of a fruitful July and August.
Our garden has gone from weeds and veggies (year 1) to veggies and weeds (year 2) to, now, mostly veggies. If I'm a dork for being proud of that, so be it. I've got a small Flickr photoset of some recent shots from our garden up here.
