Why Not Just Be Intellectually Honest and Burn a Cross in the Town Square?

Requiring every American to get permission from a federal agency before they can work. Putting soldiers on the border. Throwing business owners in jail. Shifting resources from fighting violent crime to arresting people who want to work. Making every American carry an internal passport. Would the anti-immigration folks support crazy policies like these if 90% of illegal immigrants were white? Would they be so quick to give up their civil liberties if the immigration issue was about Canadians instead of Mexicans? Of course, not. A case in point:
Last week the mayor of [Hazelton, PA] introduced, and the City Council tentatively approved, a measure that would revoke the business licenses of companies that employ illegal immigrants; impose $1,000 fines on landlords who rent to illegal immigrants; and make English the official language of the city.

"Illegal immigrants are destroying the city," said Mayor Lou Barletta, a Republican. "I don't want them here, period."

[snip]

Municipal officials around the nation, frustrated at what they perceive as the federal government's inability to stem illegal immigration, have increasingly taken matters into their own hands.

In San Bernardino, Calif., voters will decide whether to adopt a measure nearly identical to the one in Hazleton. An Idaho county filed a racketeering lawsuit against agricultural companies accused of hiring illegal immigrants. In New Hampshire, a pair of police chiefs began arresting illegal immigrants for trespassing.

We all know this madness wouldn't be happening if most immigrants were white. It's time for immigration supporters to stop being nice to our opponents. They're crazy, racist, and willing to plunge this country into the depths of despotism at the slightest reassurance that there will be less "mexicans" in their neighborhood. They don't deserve to be treated civilly. Nor should they be allowed to hide behind think tanks or other intellectual masks. We know what they are, there's no need to be polite.
