Crazy Libertarians.
(And thanks to my displaced New Orleanian for solidifying my thoughts on this one. Smooches.)
So here's the thing about Libertarians.
Most of us live in a fantasy world when it comes to national defense. I can say that, because I'm a libertarian, and I work in national defense. And my fantasy world basically consists of Britney making a comeback in the next five years. And dressing my 9 cats up in little outfits.
But back to national defense. The fantasy? About national defense? It costs us support from a large chunk of our already relatively small fan base.
Take, for example, the moral equivocation of Israelis and Arab terrorists. The Israelis go out of their way to disable - not destroy - the infastructure they're bombing. i.e., they play nice, even when they're not playing nice.
Hezbollah, on the other hand, lobs bombs at communities of civilians. They hold leadership meetings in HOMES FULL OF KIDS. It's a damn shame, but the IDF doesn't have much choice. If the bad guy with an AK-47 and a swath of murders behind him has a kid in front of him as a shield, you still take the shot. You try not to hit the kid. But you still take the shot.
For comparison: Let's pretend Israel is the US. And Lebanon is Canada. And let's pretend stateless Arab terrorists were hanging out in Canada, and they tunneled across the border and kidnapped US soldiers. And then they lob missiles into Omaha, killing the soccer moms, and the whole time Ottawa (Beirut, in this case) didn't want to do anything to stop it. REFUSED to do anything to stop it. Or just couldn't - does it matter?
So, we're cool with that?
Bend over and take it?
Up the tailpipe?
