Israeli Terrorism
Israeli officials have told Lebanese residents to leave the southern sector of their country within 24 hours. I would like to see them come to America and tell our citizens to evacuate some of our areas. Fuck off. I consider myself pro-Israel. But, everything they're doing in Lebanon right now - dropping bombs in civilian areas, shutting down Lebanon's airports, disrupting the infrastructure that brings food and medicine to people, and telling Lebanese residents to move - suggests to me that Israel's critics have been right all along. I understand that Israeli cities are facing rocket fire and Israel needs to protect its people. But, their response is extremely disproportionate. All this because a few of their soldiers were kidnapped? WTF???
The International Committee of the Red Cross and other international aid agencies cited growing concern over the number of Lebanese civilians being displaced by the Israeli air campaign, particularly in the hard-hit villages and towns of southern Lebanon. The number forced to leave their homes by Wednesday was estimated at 500,000 in a country with a population of 4 million. My apologies to anyone who this post offends. Obviously, I have nothing against the Israeli people, and I consider Israel to be an important ally of the United States. And yes, I hope that every Hezbollah leader dies. But, the indifference of Israeli officials to the lives of the Lebanese people (similar to the Bush Administration's indifference to the lives of the Iraqi people) makes them the evil they say they deplore. If I'm missing something about this crisis that would put Israel in a better light, please tell me in the comment section.
