Y'all Totally Sucked At Putting Out That Fire

Sen. Conrad Burns (Montana) could've done a way better job, dudes. Seriously.

Apparently Sen. Burns jumped a group of Virginia firefighters in an airport who were waiting to board their flight home. He told them they totally sucked and generally did a "poor job" at putting out the fire, and since he takes the responsibility of representing Montana very seriously, "when he hears from landwoners about the tens of thousands of acres lost to wild fires, his heart breaks."

The firefighters were working to contain a 143-square-mile blaze.

A fire information officer working for the the state DNR explained to Sen. Burns that firefighters make around $8 to $12 an hour, occasionally with time-and-a-half for overtime. He reportedly "seemed a bit surprised that it wasn't higher". She also explained to Sen. Burns about safety regulations and general tactics for firefighting.

Members of the firefighting team "have chosen not to say anything more about this."

I hope Sen. Burns' mother has a word with him.
