Journalists Need Lessons in Stats

This story appeared in the Wa Post today, and similar ones appeared across the country, all causing alarm.

SAT scores are down 5 points on reading, and 2 on math, which is the lowest score posted since 2002. Such a small blip does not deserve the Wa Post headline:

Five points and two points are rounding errors in the SAT, not a cause for alarm.
