An "Aha" Moment: Government-Run Healthcare is Terrible

A Wa Post series last week peeled the first layer of the onion, exposing dreadful outpatient conditions at Walter Reed, the flagship US military hospital considered the jewel in the system. Reaction was swift and decisive, with elected officials of both parties pledging improvements and senior brass being fired.

Today, hearings were held in Congress and the Wa Post peeled the second layer of the onion with a big story revealing that the dreadful care extends into the entire VA health care system and is not just limited to Walter Reed.

This is the "aha" moment for anyone considering government-run healthcare as a solution to the nation's healthcare crisis. However bad and wasteful our current system is, it could be much worse, as the Walter Reed scandal illustrates.
