NFL Clamps Down on Miscreants

The NFL, hoping to avoid being the NBA, has come down hard on a couple of repeat criminal offenders.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Pacman Jones of the Tennessee Titans and Chris Henry of the Cincinnati Bengals today because of violations of the league's personal conduct policy.

Jones will be suspended for the entire 2007 season; Henry will be suspended for the first eight games. When their suspensions are over, they must apply for reinstatement, which is contingent upon meeting a set of "good behavior" criteria.

I am always amazed at how many times NFL players get cited for drunk driving. I don't make $10 million a year but can always arrange for a taxi to take me home if I am drinking. How are these guys so stupid when they have so much to lose?
