Ashcroft was the voice of reason in the Bush Administration. Yes, Ashcroft. Apparently even he thought Cheney, Bush, and Rumsfeld were nuts.
Much like the first President Bush was told that attacking Iraq would have the negative consequence of strengthening the hands of Islamic extremists, President George W. Bush was told the same about his Iraq plan.
