Gonzales Is Out
That's right, he finally resigned. It's not surprising, given that he had virtually no supporters left besides his boss. CNN is already discussing predecessors, and it sounds like it may be Chertoff.
Yeah, Gonzales seemed like kind of an asshole, and it's widely understood that he did a horrible job as AG. But I'm not so sure this matters much in the big picture. Bush still gets to appoint the predecessor, so is there any doubt he'll appoint someone who will cooperate 100%? Isn't that why Gonzales was chosen after Ashcroft couldn't take it anymore?
