
Above is a Potomac River tributary known as
Nanjemoy Creek, located about 45 miles south of DC in the armpit of Southern Maryland. It's one of the more reclusive spots on the watershed and is home to an abundance of wildlife including Ospreys,
Bald Eagle pairs numbering in the dozens, and serves as what's probably the
largest nesting area anywhere for Great Blue Herons. It's known as one of the more productive largemouth-bass fisheries on the Potomac, but also holds reliable populations of stripers, catfish, yellow and white perch, etc. Below is a 2-3lb largemouth that I pulled out of the water this past Sunday.
