Pats Spy Flap Scandal Has Legs
The New England Patriots have been found guilty of video-taping their opponents' defensive signals.
Obviously this raises the asterisk question a la Barry Bonds. The Pats won three Super Bowls in the past five years by three points or fewer, not exactly decisive wins. In contrast, in the intervening years the Colts won by 12 points and Pittsburgh by 11.
Cheating does not get you a huge lead, but was it enough to get the Pats their three points and three rings?
The AFC playoff matchup against SD last year shows all of the hallmarks of the alleged cheating: The Pats were being slaughtered in the first half but made a miraculous comeback in the second. The allegations are that the Pats video recorded the D signals and matched them with film and gave their players the code at half-time.
The Pats' last Super Bowl opponent, the Eagles, are asking some questions.
