Hiroshima Photos

This week, I found out I will be moving back to Nagoya from Hiroshima at the end of February. I could have sworn that about three months ago I promised you photos from Hiroshima. But my memory is shit, so who knows.

Anyway, here you go. I'm not much of a photographer, and I haven't taken nearly as many pictures as I should have in such a historic city. Regardless, I've captured some neat stuff the few times I've remembered to take my camera along with me.

Side note: Two of the pictures are from Nagoya, not Hiroshima. They're labeled accordingly.

Metro Area Fishing Part 2

Above is a Potomac River tributary known as Nanjemoy Creek, located about 45 miles south of DC in the armpit of Southern Maryland. It's one of the more reclusive spots on the watershed and is home to an abundance of wildlife including Ospreys, Bald Eagle pairs numbering in the dozens, and serves as what's probably the largest nesting area anywhere for Great Blue Herons. It's known as one of the more productive largemouth-bass fisheries on the Potomac, but also holds reliable populations of stripers, catfish, yellow and white perch, etc. Below is a 2-3lb largemouth that I pulled out of the water this past Sunday.

35 Minutes North of Baltimore

Got a chance last night to get out on the Gunpowder River, and do a little fly-fishing. It's a beautiful piece of water, providing trout fisherman with a challenging 14 mile, blue-ribbon trout-fishery. It's a tail water so the stream conditions can change suddenly and regardless of the weather and one is best to check the conditions before making a trip.

Next, and last, in this two-part series on wilderness in a major metropolitan area -- we travel 35 minutes south of DC into places where you can still buy fresh bushels of Chesapeake crabs (as opposed to the crab houses who are selling Carolina and Gulf Coast crabs mostly) for some of the best striper fishing on the east-coast.
